The Disposable Camera
Throughout the many interests that I have explored in my life, I often found that I arrived at a point where it seemed my success in the field was limited by financial means. I once again felt like I found myself at these crossroads in my passion for photography– I could upgrade to finer, more expensive equipment, or stay stuck at the same level.
But what if it didn’t have to be this way? What if I relied more on my creativity and skill to produce beautiful and moving art, rather than the latest, finest equipment? It was then that I turned to the disposable camera. Among the simplest and cheapest of cameras, this inexpensive tool is rarely taken seriously for making fine art. But could I actually do something cool with it?
Every one of the images in this series is made using a disposable camera and minimal editing. They may not be the most refined or perfectly curated images, but I see them as my own form of impressionism. I hope this project serves to show others that they are not as limited by financial means as they might believe, and that passion and creativity trumps all in the artistic process.
