Early in 2022 I found myself needing a change of scenery, as I so often feel. With some research and the help of a friend who lived there, I soon found myself on a flight to Albania, armed with every piece of camera gear I owned. The next two weeks proved to be a beautiful and eye-opening experience. Everything was so different, yet it was also the same. People had families, work life, commutes, weekends, down time…but it was all done so differently than I had ever experienced before. Everything was so novel to me that I was able to experience the full beauty of it, without the obstacle of familiarity present to cloud any of the splendor. It made me wish that I could see more of life this way, as if I were always experiencing it for the first time. These photographs serve not only to showcase the beauty present within another culture, but also as a reminder that with a set of fresh eyes beauty can be recognized anywhere.
